Access Table Relationship Tips

Use the auto number field from the master table to create subordinate table relationships. A subordinate table is a detail table. This approach requires a corresponding long integer field in the subordinate table. Be aware that your Access subversion must be up to date in order to get good results.

Caption Property

Caption is the name that displays in the title bar at the very top of the report. In the example below, the Caption field was edited to display "Suppliers Report".

Record Source Property

The purpose of the Record Source property is to set the source of the data for the form. For example, if you would like to create a data entry form for the Suppliers Table, you would specify Suppliers for the Record Source. If you add a new record in the form, it will insert a record into the Suppliers Table. If you modify a record using this form, the data in the Suppliers Table would also be modified.
